| The results of the experiments in digestion physiology gave impetus to conditional reflex understanding, as the universal way to react to the new conditions of the external and internal medium. Pavlov's method of conditional reflex on the base of salivary gland gave the science the opportunity to estimate the psychological processes objectively and quantitatively; it led to the new studies of highest nervous activity. Pavlov and his co-workers investigated the excitation and inhibition processes, problems of sleep and hypnosis, the features of experimental neuroses. A new study of nervous system types was worked out. A lot of aspects of pharmacology of high nervous activity had been studied, some new studies appeared: analyzers, functions localization in the cortex, cerebral hemispheres systemic work, and, finally, the study of the first and second signal system. Academician Ivan Pavlov was a great scientist, a man of many-sided and tireless personality, he gave the full notion about digestion physiology; started investigating human and animal psychics (higher nervous activity) on the base of conditional reflex. |
