Ivan Pavlov:
Physiology of Digestion Study

Pavlov worked out a new direction in digestion physiology.
He studied the glands of gastric-intestine tract on a live un-narcotized animal in chronic experiment, with uninterrupted function of all digestion system.
Pavlov investigated the main regularities of all the parts of the system functions such as stomach, liver, pancreas, etc, as well as the rules of their reciprocal action, including digestion in the mouth.
An important discovery of the regulating role of the central nervous system in the whole digestion process was made.
In 1904 Ivan Pavlov was awarded the Noble Prize for his achievements in the field of digestion physiology.
